Повышение хим. активности руд и минералов при (или до) взаимодействии их с реагентом в результате воздействия на них, напр, при флотации. При хим. а. р. и м. предварительно создают реакционные центры обработкой тв. вещ-ва реагентом (катализ и автокатализ). Физ. а. р. и м. осуществляют воздействием механич., термич., радиац. (в т.ч. оптич.), ультразвуковым, электрич. (дуговые, искровые разряды), созданием эл.- и магн. полей. При этом возможны частичное или полное фазовое превращение (напр., при механоактивации природный бадделеит моноклинной структуры может превратиться в тетрагональный) или аморфизация. А. р. и м. используют для ускорения процессов, сопровождающихся хим. реакциями с низкими значениями констант равновесия. Для необратимых процессов эффект активирования (или дезактивирования) заметен, когда скорость процесса лимитирует хим. реакция.
